Lacewood Panel

SKU: LAC

Description

Has a very conspicuous flecking that gives the wood its namesake.  The wood itself is reddish brown with light brown or grey rays which result in a lace pattern when quarter sawn due to the wood’s wide medullary rays.  Has a a fairly coarse and uneven texture due to the difference in densities between the regular wood tissue and the rays.  The grain is usually straight.  Used in cabinetry, fine furniture, musical instruments, turned objects, and veneers.  Silky Oak species are from Northern and Southern Australia, while some species are from South America.
